Computers take the spirituality out of work. 

[Dynaxiom 3460: Something AI might never have: 'signature'--as in 'signature style'. Anything generated by AI is essentially 'de-signed'. If AI had the capability for 'handwriting' could it write its signature without front-loading it with data? AI can certainly have a 'style', but it is dependent on patterns in the data. If you had an LLM that was just the guitar tracks played by one person, there would be a style, but you couldn't ask it questions about how the style evolved. You'd have to include interviews with that guitarist, and the responses would have nothing to do with playing the guitar; It would be only the patterns in the text. The guitar player and the guitar stems in he LLM are not intimately connected. It is one hand clapping (tapping)].

Photographer Diane Arbus has a show at the Met. She let people politely "gawk" at freaks, dwarves, and sideshow performers. That's one of the unique things about photography— it lets people stare at other people without being impolite. I also like her Axiom: "a photo is a secret about a secret."

Subgenres in music started in the 90s, as a result of remix, among other factors. Using language as a metaphor, remixes are slangs. David Bowie championed the idea of experimentation over familiarity, specifically his interest in wordplay, like cut-up, a slang not unlike hashtags or remixes.

Contacted Sera Lockmore about that wonderful installation at Gates Park. I suggested that we collaborate on a similar installation somewhere in the Arctic Circle (or Antarctic), a "henge" of some kind where the Equinox is foreshadowed in early March.

9/30/1997             Roy Lichtenstein died. His use of ads, cartoons, etc. is similar to using samples in music. A New Look at the Chicago Panels

The Chicago Panels is a series of minimalist works that Ellsworth Kelly did as a permanent installation at the Art Institute of Chicago for the new Rice Wing in 1988. They are some of the most ignored pieces in the museum, but seeing them in context with the Doric columns and Beaux Arts sculptures is an exciting juxtaposition, which I think makes it decidedly post-modernist. Isomelody and Isorhythm

An interesting exercise is to take an existing melody (as I did with the Bach cello suite) and map it over another rhythm. You can compose your own or use an existing one. With Be Bach I used the sequence of notes in the Suite and mapped it over a bop rhythm that I composed. After the melody was done I added chord changes.
