Song About A Film Based On A Song Title
The original song, You Go To My Head, was written in 1938 and was covered many times over the decades. It's one of the most standard of Standards. A few years ago, I watched a film based on the same title, about a woman who was involved in a rollover accident in the Moroccan desert, was concussed and got long-term amnesia. She was picked up by an architect who was working in Morocco building houses for people. He had also built a house for himself–a very minimal house–very Corbusian–just a white stucco structure, which I really liked. I had never seen a film that was shot in Morocco–totally gorgeous. The screenplay was almost stupid and characters wooden, but the cinematography was interesting, shot in Morocco with Guilhem Eustache's Fobe House as a set. All natural lighting. Stand A Chance
A lyric has to start somewhere. In this case, it was this entry, then a rhythm sketched in a notebook. AI makes it easy because you're disabused of the (tedium of) recording. Not that recording isn't creative in itself, but AI at least gives you a prototype. Personally, none of these AI spins are something I would do, and I do have my own version of this. AI was also used in the lyric-writing, using an LLM of my entire lyric notebook and the Dynaxioms, so it's essentially a "Dynaxiom song" or an "assembled" lyric with bits coming from several sources. 0132. 2/2/1998 Writing music is like making food from a recipe: There are processes that are known to work, and they produce similar results every time. It’s also a reliable process because you can make a meal of tried-and-true recipes and know that the guests will like it. Just as in cooking, where there are certain procedures that always work, for example, doing things separately and then combining, making music has its own rules of thumb. Now that music is now more DIY, you get everyone collaborating on a “meal”, regardless of whether they know how to cook, and the outcome is more provisional. But ultimately, everyone had fun and left the party satisfied. We might have lost sight of our initial intention, which was to make a tasty meal, but everything turned out, regardless of whether a proper recipe was used.
