Bass Arrangements

Arrangement of Mood For A Day (Steve Howe)

Howe's guitar version:

Double movement from the Partita No. 1 in B minor for solo violin--J.S. Bach, arranged as a jazz head titled, "Be-Bach"

(I used melodic line of the Double movement and mapped it over a Bop rhythm.)

Sarabande from the Partita No. 1 in B minor for solo violin--J.S. Bach

Arranged for my final recital in music school, 1986. I used to do a lot of transcribing, and it was a great way to develop technique. I read anything I could get my hands on-- trombone music, tuba music, cello music. I was even adventurous enough to transcribe solo guitar music for the bass.

Sonatina in G Major for 2 Basses (original composition, 1984)

In 3 movements for 2 bass guitars, but can be performed on the double bass as well. It sounds deceptively simple, but is quite a stretch to play. In 1989, I re-scored the piece for string quartet.
