Kokin-Joshi Experiments

Image
Experiment in 3/4 with a ditty based on the Kokin-Joshi pentatonic scale.

California Hallway (No. 2) Score

Another version of the score through Noteflight. The cheeziest string sound ever. It is interesting that this type of slow tempo in half notes is perfect for big spaces, not a miniature hallway!

Chinese Interior (No. 1) Mix 2

Mix 2 , now with a more layered atmosphere, inspired by layers of interior architecture divided by screens. Melody alternates between contrasted dark and light parts (Eb Mixolydian and V chord in Eb minor) Piano is a scratch.

California Hallway (No. 2)

In a strictly orchestral context, it would have another section to follow it as the final chord is unresolved. The idea is to make them musical "miniatures" all around three minutes or less. You couldn't have them any longer as they are only scoring for a still image. The harmony of this piece is not in any one key. It's kind of like jazz, where one piece can modulate through many keys in a short time. Download Score (Finale) Download MIDI File
