2046 (2016)
Possible scoring for a film derived from my story Reset 2046. This is somewhat of a serialized album, not meant to packaged into a fixed-size medium, like one side of a record. It may never end. It could have 12 final pieces of music or 50. The music is composed to support events happening at specific dates and times in the future, but mostly in 2046. There is no constraint on length of pieces, and they can be very short 15-30 seconds to 60 minutes long. The longer pieces are for moments of solitude, where you can inhabit the world of the characters over a longer period, and just use it for background noise.
The Reset Stories:
Strategies:
- Don't focus on the harmony
- Nostalgia for a past that's in the future
- Ancient Future
- The Blockchain
- False Futures
- Glitch/Datamoshing
- An album of parts of songs that can be played at random. Make one long piece an hour in length and cut it up
- Make a strategies deck
- 46 minutes (or 66 minutes--20+46)
- Use ambient drones to bookend the music
- Riff on cloying music in futurist documentaries
