Sum II.4: The Edge and the Border

Another album in the Songday series created with AI, using the same lyrics for each of the five songs.

The lyrics are based on Dynaxiom 0408, “Beauty finds itself and its beholder”. The original idea was a piece of music titled The Frequency Holder. A “frequency holder”  is a term coined by Eckhart Tolle as “someone who embodies and emanates a high vibrational frequency, often associated with presence, awareness, and peace, contributing to the collective consciousness”. .It's ironic that this music is pretty hard-edged vis-a-vis its spiritual nature.

I called this music “Concrete Metal” based on my visual vibe of Brutalist architecture. Some of the buildings are actually quite beautiful (to me), So there can be a “brutal beauty”, something “Butalist”, a play on “Brutalist”.

Writing music with AI is a different animal because the words are squeezed into riffs, and so it’s a top-down control. When you write music manually with just a guitar or piano, the melodic and rhythmic ideas are more natural. You're not trying to force a groove against it, which will change the meaning. AI music generation is always changing meaning, and you're just going with the flow of it. It's not the way that I typically work, but it's not uninteresting in itself.]

Lyric meaning:

Beauty hides itself
It could be bolder
When you find your Self
Over your shoulder

[Finding oneself over one shoulder May refer to a sense of a newly-found mindfulness]

Beauty makes itself
In a linear order
Chaos comes to rest
At the edge and the border

[An example of beauty making itself are fractals. The linear order of the fractal equation. Chaos coming to rest at the edge in the Border would be something that's visually chaotic, window down to something elegant. Lots of the brutalist buildings are geometrically minimalist]

The guitar parts are "uncanny" even if they are "canned" . In X2 the solo is unreal (uncanny) because no one plays like that consistently that high on the neck. I'd like to see someone do it. That's the issue will a lot of AI music--it's an illusion of music.

The bass sound in X3 is interesting.(Who's the drummer?)

X5: Interesting chord change--one I would have never used, and it works.
