It used to be that we assuaged our fears by looking forward to the next election.

A musical idea based on the idea of a return to "norrnal" post-COVID, when the loneliness might linger on. What happens when the old Normal returns and we don't recognize it?

One aspect of art making that's evolved over the past 5-10 years is the use of "artificial intelligence" or some kind of a coding framework for creativity. I remember generative art and music from 25 years ago that in itself was also based on something 20 or 25 years prior. So the idea that there's a new platform that's going to create a zeitgeist in art is unconvincing to me. What artists should be doing is simply working from ideas and shaping them with materials that are informed by the ideas or are in some metaphorical context in surprising ways, such as atmospheric ideas resulting in things made of corten steel for example. Not all ideas require AI, as not all ideas should be made with paint. But everything now is based on memes. So in order to create art and make it meaningful you have to be popular first. Popularity is the medium. There's very little spirituality in that.

I like that playing music avoids objects other than the instruments. But obviously instruments can take up a lot of space, but so can art. I have so many ideas for making art but for the past year or so I've been really getting to music and like the way I feel while I'm doing it and after I've done something.

AI relationships are interesting from a musician’s standpoint, especially for young musicians or even older people who want to start to get into music, and they’re using AI music as their access point. So the question is, is there a benefit of that for someone starting with AI music generation and then getting more interested in music itself?
